hailing fr the world
Weiyang is coming back for a 2 weeks visit this Sunday! He's one of the very few friends that I got to know from my mIRC days and have (in spite of different timezones and rare meet-ups) been keeping in touch with in the past... 8 years? Wow...
Since late July, it's been week after week of meeting friends, most of whom are in town for a visit. Kyn, Chris and family, Wenn, Bali trip with all the beautiful women known to me since sec school, BBQ party with excolleagues, and now a catching up session with Romeo (i.e the nick I gave Weiyang) is in the cards.
In September, there is already one Saturday that's the annual moon-party (mid-autumn reunion) with my extended family. One Sunday that's my monthly family day. One Saturday for crooning the house down with Shaohao. And never forgetting the first Sun of the month is D-day for my favourite paininthearse n his bride.
There is just not enough weekends in a week.
Amidst all the fun that I'm gonna have, I can soooo see the depleting of my financial resources...

BBQ Party indoor
I think we did absolutely fine! By moving the bbq indoors cos of the rain. It's even kinda fun, tho there were two food casualties in my care that fell off the tiny parking grill.
The otahs were good and so were the (non-halal) satay. Oh, and I'm so very proud of my batch of beautifully cooked honey chicken wings! I think I can apply for a part time job at the BBQ chicken wings stall in the coffeeshop near my house. Grilled brinjal opened a whole new space of vege-eating for me. It's yummilicious!
I wanna do this again sometime soon! A small indoors bbq party, sans beach, sand, sea. There's TV, guitar and the convenience of a toilet 10 steps away.
xxx
But we must go to the beach someday too. Within this year. Beat the weather this time.

Virgo
Your element: Earth
Your ruling planets: Mercury
Symbol: The Virgin
Your stone: Sapphire
Life Pursuit: To do the right thing
Vibration: Compassionate and caring
Virgo's Secret Desire: To love and be loved in return
Description:Virgos are often put down badly by many astrologers and written up as being fussy and narrow-minded. But when a Virgo shines, there is practically no sign to match their inner light. An in-tune Virgo is a treat to meet. When a Virgo is confident within themselves they are the most successful, structured and creative of all the signs.
>> What is an in-tune Virgo? One who can sing well?
Many Virgos can be found working in the "service to others" industries, ranging from welfare work, doctors, school-teachers through to practising natural forms of healing like massage, herbal remedies etc. One of the most magical characteristics of the Virgo is no matter how many times life or romance turns sour on them, they still manage to maintain faith in others, refusing to become cynical. There is ingenuity around this sign, a kind-heartedness, which unfortunately is sometimes played upon by others for their advantage. Virgos can often become victims of relationship power-games, where they are mistreated.
>>wahahaha... Nope, I'm not cynical; just highly skeptical.
Creative and sensitive, Virgos are delicate people who, like rare and special orchids, require individual treatment to fully blossom into their true unique beauty. Shy, they are happy to allow others to take centre-stage and often generate their time and energy into making those they love happy or successful.
>> I always launch into an inner conflict when people laugh whenever I say I'm shy. Life's a bit more difficult when others don't believe you...
Virgos are givers and when the chips are down and you need a friend, the one available during those testing times when you need advice or companionship the most, is likely to be a Virgo. Virgos understand human frailties better than most, because they are so deep and reflective themselves. With a Virgo in your life you have someone who understands and cares and any romance or friendship based upon these qualities is certain to be mutually rewarding.
>> True. Just try not to lose your chips and need a friend when I'm sleeping, especially not between 7-9am, when I'm trying not to get out of bed.

My 2nd emcee job-
gq: ... I have a task for you. Be my emcee. No need for fanciful stuff. Just shut the crowd before the solemnisation, shut them before I walk in n I think that's about it. Can do me the favour pls?
me: I like the sound of the job scope already. Can I use vulgarities?
gq: It's up to you, hehe.
me: Very well, I will take things into my own hands then. Btw, you look naturally hideous in the wedding photos on facebook. But I love the one where you were taking a fag.
gq: Hideous? Your eyes are beyond redemption, I swear.
My ugly (but cheekily cute) old friend, still in as much denial as ever.

I still like that song. Play n sing for me the next time again?
"... our love will never end... we'll linger on... cos you'll always be my baby..."

bits n pieces
A letter to be written. Because this is the passing of a stage. Your stage. Your phase. You never know what is to come. But you will get there, get by, get on just absolutely fine.
You just be who you are. Like in those photos. I can't help smiling when I saw them. That's 18 years of known cheekiness.

More babies coming my way!!!

Well...
if you really let me win every argument. And sleep with the fan and not air-con. And be the (VISA) sponsor of a shopping elv. And keep the music playing, the songs singing and the stories-telling, the illusions building, the truth withstanding...
Then, maybe... just maybe...

Mas, harus cakap lebih pelan-pelan...
I am back. From Bali.
With bintang singlets, shell necklaces, teh botol and silverqueen. Oh, and kerupok udang.
The bestest bits? Jimbaran bay sunset seafood dinner. Ruthless sabotage games with the spectacularly funny people I went with. And tawar-ing with the orang Indonesians.
"Kakak cantik, semua berapa harganya? Kurang kan, ya..."
I know I amused everyone of those Indonesians I tried to bargain with. Bahasa Indon Jancy Pte (very) Ltd.
Oh, and the first (n possibly last) snorkeling experience.

So upset
The extent of feeling upset over its loss took me by surprise. I fought back tears while sitting in Mos Burger. I fought back tears while in the bus. I fought back tears when Emman smsed me a humourous side to the situation.
I never expect that I would be this upset.
I don't lose things easily. I don't lose things frequently. Generally, I'm a rather careful person and not absent-minded.
But I lost my Lord of The Rings bookmark. This afternoon. In Ang Mo Kio Central. When I realised it fell out of the book I was carrying in my hands, I retraced my steps to find it. And when I realised it was lost to me, possibly forever, I was seriously, genuinely upset.
The bookmark has been with me through thick and thin. Thick and thin books. As well as good and bad ones. It's the bookmark I show off to friends who care to know my preoccupation with LoTR. It's a gift from Juan. From the States.
Still, I did not expect I would cry.
Honestly, the loss was more painful than I had thought. I kept thinking of how I don't know where my bookmark is anymore, who has gotten hold of it and its future... and I just felt like crying again.
Feels like a damn break up. Damn it.
Emman said I attach too much sentimentality to things. That I attach too much value to my things. Yes, he is right. To people too. That's my downfall. I knew it, I know it. I can't help it.
I hate this downfall. But what else can I hold on to?

Kidz talk
A picture discussion on a picture depicting a zoo.
siobhan: There are some monkeys in the zoo. A girl is feeding the monkeys a banana. It is wrong of her to do that.
me: Why?
siobhan: There is a sign on the wall that says, "Do not feed the monkeys". She should not do it.
me: Good. Why do you think the sign says that?
siobhan: Because the zookeeper has already fed the monkeys. The monkeys have eaten.
me: Right... So, what do you think will happen if the girl continues to do that?
siobhan: The monkeys will all vomit.
me: (amused) Okay...
siobhan: They are too full.
me: So, that's why they will vomit?
siobhan: Ya.
me: Ok, good! How about the girl? What do you think will happen to the girl?
siobhan: She will be scratched by the monkeys. Because all the monkeys see her feeding this one, they will all come and get bananas from her. They will scratch her.
me: Right! So, she might get hurt. Right?
siobhan: (smiles) Ya.

A lil while more
I will, really, go to sleep as soon as FB finishes uploading photos of Club Regardless's second outing at the Botanic Gardens.
I just need to sleep... and sleep in.

Blame it on the hormones
That I only slept a miserable 1.5hours last night. That 'Fuck. Damn it.' were the three words that went through my mind.
But the time has come and gone. The hormones made me do it. And there isn't much point reinstating anything and trying to turn the clock back.
What was the thing inside that has gotten stronger? haha...
One step forward, two steps back, one step forward, three steps back, two steps forward...
Keep walking. Go crazy, slowly.

Kidz talk
Had a rather relaxing (yeah, 'relaxing', can u imagine!) tuition session with Julian today. Mainly because he has changed school - from MOE mainstream to an international school. I am totally with this, I must say. He will do so much better and fit in better in an international school.
We chatted quite a bit today.
julian: But Singapore is not even real. It's just a name of the country.
me: (slightly amused) Ya, you are right. How about Indonesia?
julian: It's also not real. It's just a name of a country. Singapore is not real. It's just a name. So, why do we say 'Happy birthday, Singapore'? It's not even a person. It will just grow and grow and not die.
me: Ya... But I think when we say that, we actually mean the people of Singapore who make up Singapore...
julian: (seemingly oblivious to my remark) Like me, I will grow up and grow old. But even when I grow old, Singapore will be older. I will die but Singapore will just not die. Even after my children, and my children's children, it will still be around.
On a news article that I shared with him, on bulletproof bra for German policewoman...
julian: That's good. (laughs) If it's bulletproof, then when the bullet hits the bra (pointing to his chest area), it will reflect back and
zhum-zhum! Good!
me: (laughs) Ya, I guess that will be quite helpful, isn't it?
julian: (laughs) Ya! So even if they get shot, (they) not get hurt! 'Tis good!
On another news article on confusing signage for washrooms in China.
me: So, imagine... if you go to this restaurant, and you want to go to the toilet. You look at both doors. One is a picture of a banana, and the other is a peach. Which one do you think is the Gents?
julian: The banana lah!
me: How do you know? Maybe it's the peach?
julian: No. It's the banana (laughs in a 'are-you-stupid' kinda way).
me: Well, it's kind of confusing if people do not understand and they might need to think which is the correct washroom.
julian: I just go to both.
me: What do you mean?
julian: I just go in. If it's not correct, then go to the other one.
me: Oh, yes.
julian: Why people so shy to go to both? Just go in and check. Why so shy?
me: Hmm, that's a good question. (pause) So, let's say, I need to go to the toilet and I don't know which one to go to. I just go into one and when I open the door, I see a line of men peeing inside. Isn't it going to be embarassing?
julian: Oh... ya... (laughs)

Saintnity visits
McDonalds @ Ang Mo Kio Central.
Saintnity makes her debut trip to McDonalds! It's a big step out. Seriously. Considering how much she weighs, with battery. It's also her first time tapping into
Wireless@SG. Well, it's really pretty damn cool. The connection speed is fast, though I had a few issues with the password. But, we got here anyhow, haven't we!
*bravo!
It's nice... to eat sausage mcmuffin with hot tea (the mcdonalds-lipton tea is still as diluted and disgusting as ever) while watching Grey's Anatomy. That was a heartbreaking episode I just watched though. Sigh...
Looking around where we are now... Just one question: Shouldn't secondary school students be in school now?!?!? Why are they all out? Can someone from Deyi Secondary School illuminate me on their ubiquitous presense in this restaurant since 11am?

The lastly unexpected
Time does have a way of sorting life out, since life often has a divine way of sorting itself out. Patience, is all we need.
Genuinely, I'm happy for him. This may not be in the plan at all. But in a way, I'm proud of him for the way he has handled the circumstances enveloping him now.
At the very minimum, he really loves kids. I can see a good Daddy in my good old friend. And that will have to be just enough reason for him to be the kind of person he's afraid to be. The time has come.
7 Sept. I will never not be there. ^_^
Is that a good reason to buy new clothes? hehe

News post
The Daily Telegraph
BEIJING — Tall yellow signs have been erected at the turnstiles of all Olympic venues, looming over spectators as they queue to take their seats, and giving an exhaustive nine-point list of “do’s and don’ts”. The 4.6-metre-high yellow signs cite rules that range from the usual bans on smoking and gambling to more peculiar bans on the opening of umbrellas, or bans on standing up in your seat.
On the ever-sensitive subjective of political protests, visitors are warned in no uncertain terms that protests on any subject — be it about politics, environmental issues or animal rights — will not be tolerated.
At the Bird’s Nest stadium on Monday, foreign visitor Frank Lejeune said: “The signage does feel a little bit aggressive and in-your-face.”
Among the more perplexing banners exhibited elsewhere is one that reads: “Go outside less — give our foreign friends some space.”
The banners are all part of a clean-up of the city. Beggars, dissidents, the mentally ill and hundreds of thousands of poor migrant workers have also been removed from the streets of the city.
>> Preposterous. I would be so ashamed of belonging to a city that seems so ashamed of me.

This August...
If nothing crops up again, my darling will arrive back home on the morning of National Day. (^_^) Tis says, "Very, Very Happy!"
It's just fabuloustic to have her here, even if we don't really meet up often enough.
---
If everytime u wish a person good luck for anything, it always ends up futile, then, maybe if u wish one bad luck, it would just really turn out to be bad?
Cos I told Kyn (who's back for a stay so short that she doesn't even have 2 hours to have lunch with me... tsktsk.. hee) 'Bad luck for your VISA' yesterday.
I hope China tells u to wait for one more week so that the SBC gets to have our reunion this weekend.
---
Apple sounded like her eyelids are only sewn open with dental floss nowadays. We should really meet up and crap.
So, I'm looking forward to having a gathering with these bitches, all sick and tired in a way or another. That's one of the perks in August. The gathering, I meant.
xxx
Perk no. 2.
A BBQ is in the cards! As the party grows bigger, it's just going to get more noisy, chaotic, crappy but fun!
I love sambal sotong right out from the charcoal pit! And sweet potato... and pork chops... and would be so complete if there's fried bee hoon somewhere... and a baby Snow... somewhere...
xxx
Perk no. 3.
Christian and family are in gonna be in town for visiting! I really wanna carry lil Jona!
And Chris can be a good friend by helping me with my rather stagnant state of planning for my trip in Germany come Oct.
